Prawn Malai Curry

Authentic Bengali style mouth watering jumbo prawn curry cooked in coconut milk.

Ingredients:
Prawn - 500 gms
Coconut Milk - 1 Cup
Onion - 1 Medium Size
Ginger - 0.5 Inch piece
Garlic - 6-8 cloves
Green chilli - 4, slit in half
Red Chilli Powder - 1 Tsp
Bay Leaf - 2
Salt and sugar to taste
Turmeric Powder - 0.5 Tsp
Cardamom - 0.5 Inch piece
Cinnamon - 4 whole
Cloves- 1 Tbsp
Cooking Oil

Method:
Rub some turmeric powder and salt on the prawns. Fry in little oil till light brown. Keep aside. Throw the oil away.

Chop the onions, ginger, garlic, and grind to a fine paste. Crush cardamom, cinnamon and cloves to coarse powder. You can also use your food processor to create this. Heat oil and fry onions to a light brown. Add the garlic and ginger paste, bay leaf, red chilli powder and green chilies and fry for about 5 - 7 minutes.

Add the prawns and fry along with the spices for a few minutes. Add coconut milk, sugar, salt and the ground spices (cardamom, cinnamon and cloves).

Cover and simmer in medium heat for about 10 minutes. Serve hot with rice.
